Hi everyone! I'm Anna, 21 years old and from Germany. Currently I'm enrolled in the "International Cultural and Business Studies" Bachelor program at the University of Passau in Germany. For my studies I had to choose a region which I will focus on... Southeast Asia!
I first fell in love with this region in 2008 when I spend 12 months volunteering as an English teacher in Semarang (Indonesia). In 2009 I returned to Germany to start my studies in Passau. After 2 semesters in Germany I was ready to return to Indonesia. But this time it was for academical reasons. Spending at least one semester abroad is a compulsory part of my studies and when I was offered a place with the Darmasiswa scholarship program at the Universitas Negeri Semarang I gladly accepted. After completing one semester in Semarang I left Indonesia for Bangkok. The Human Development Forum Foundation, a Thai based NGO, had offered me an internship. During the 3,5 months that I spend with them I did not only learn a lot but also made some great friends. However, time passed quickly and I had to return to Germany to continue my studies in Passau. After a great and fruitful semester in Passau I am now ready to embark on a new journey to Asia. First I will spend one month in Qingdao (China) where I will attend a summer university. Afterwards I will make my way to Phuket to start my semester at the Prince of Songkla University. I'm very much looking forward to it and through this blog I will keep you updated on everything that is going to happen!
